XMail Forum > Documentation and Knowledge Base > What Is Extended Sender -f ?

Posted by: akbsol Dec 31 2008, 06:27 AM
This is regarding XMail sendmail binary's extended sender -F flag. Can anyone please tell what is this about. If i use:

echo "test" | sendmail -fabc@abc.com -Fdef@def.com me@myself.com

the mail simply appears to come from def@def.com and -f flag is simply ignored. What is this -F flag exactly for?

-Regards,
Akash

Extended sender means, e.g.

"Joe Black <joe.black@death.com>"

So when a extended sender -F is supplied on command line, the normal sender -f is simply ignored?

Akash

Choose either -f or -F.

For extended sender, the syntax is:

sendmail -F "Joe Black <joe.black@death.com>"
