How does one configure xmail for PLAIN, or LOGIN authentication protocols? XMail defaults to CRAM-MD5. I have tried a couple of methods from the user manual but have been unsuccessful. The user manual is abbreviated and spartan. I have an development engineering background, but I am a newbie at SMTP.

Also, I don’t see any support for DIGEST-MD5. I am assuming this is not available. Is it?

I am currently testing SMTP Scan to Email functionality on MFP products, which are essentially printers with scanner functionality. I have chosen XMail Mail Server v1.25 for this test effort due to it’s extensive feature set. I have installed it in a Windows 2003 Server. I have everything installed, running fine, and but I cannot seem to cofigure XMail for the desired authentication protocol.

Does anyone use XMail Mail Server for this application? Help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Xmail supports:
QUOTE
SMTP authentication (PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5 POP3-before-SMTP and custom)

I'm not sure how to write the "custom" method though.
Plain + Login is both very low security please use them only in your intranet.

And since when did Microsoft FrontPage ("MFP products") become scanner software? *confused*
