Hi

I just discovered this forum today and wish to thank the Administrator(s)/Moderators/etc for this fine XMail resource biggrin.gif.

I have configured and been using XMail for a while on XP. This has been primarily to test the account activation mail functions from localhost on Content Management Systems (CMS) and Forum packages such as Joomla!, Drupal and phpBB.

Xmail works fine, i.e account activation email messages are successfully sent and received when testing registrations with O2.com and yahoo.com email accounts. However, for some reason, googlemail emails are not being received.

Here are the relevant values in my "server.tab" file

CODE

"RootDomain" "localhost"
"SmtpServerDomain" "localhost"
"POP3Domain" "localhost"
"HeloDomain" "localhost"
# -----the following two values have bee substituted------#
"PostMaster" "account_name@mail_provider.com"
"ErrorsAdmin" "account_name@mail_provider.com"

"MaxMTAOps" "16"
"ReceivedHdrType" "0"
"FetchHdrTags" "+X-Deliver-To,+Received,To,Cc"

# The lines below here were uncommented after reading http://xmailforum.homelinux.net/index.php?showtopic=3438

"EnableAuthSMTP-POP3" "0"
"SMTP-RDNSCheck" "1"
"CheckMailerDomain" "1"

I have also edited the "smtpfwd.tab" and added the following:

CODE

#substituted value
"*" "smtp.my_ISP.com"

However messages are still not being received at my Googlemail account. I suspect the Googlemail system is tagging my localhost server as a spammer and is blocking the delivery. This is a bit ironic since this particular account receives so much spam from real spammers ha ha laugh.gif. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and can offer any suggestions?

P.S. For privacy perposes, some values as indicated have been substituted.

Cheers

Further to the above, I received a Mail Delivery Failure Notice from googlemail at the account that I used as the "from" address. The key part of this message is the the following quote:

QUOTE

The IP you're using to send mail is not authorized to send email directly to our servers. Please use the SMTP relay at  your service provider instead.

Taking this into consideration, I edited my "smtprelay.tab" from
CODE

"192.168.0.0" "255.255.0.0"
"127.0.0.1" "255.255.255.255"

to

CODE

"192.168.0.0" "255.255.0.0"
"127.0.0.1" "255.255.0.0"
"XXX.XX.XXX.XX" "255.255.255.0"

Where "XXX.XX.XXX.XXX" is my IP address. I also tried:

CODE

XXX.XX.XXX.XX" "255.255.255.255"
"XXX.XX.XXX.XX" "255.255.0.0"

but the delivery failure notices persisted.

The full content of the message has been posted below. Note that the "XXX" string has been used to hide some personal data in the message below.

You read the error message. Google doesn't accept mail from dynamic IP addresses. There is no solution for your "problem" it's working exactly as designed and implemented by (hopefully) all ISP's.

It will refuse email from Windows zombie machines taken over by viruses, adware, and trojans.
