Installed XQM on windows 2000. On startup, an Error dialog
...

Cannot aqccess this mailroot directory.
Make sure that this path is correct ......

Press OK to reconfigure or CANCEL to exit XQM.

If I chose CANCEL, I am out of XQM...can't do anything.
If I chose OK to reconfigure, next screen give me local or
remote, local does not require any input just "Save" -- that
cycle me back. If remote the data does get saved to xqmwin.dat file, but cycle me again. Both env MAIL_TOOT and reg XMail is set to my root path. ????

There is no readme.txt in the download archive. Stuck.

Thanx in advance.

I assume, that you want to remtoe access XMail.
Enter the MailRoot path as a so called UNC path like e.g.

\\192.168.0.1\c\MailRoot

This points to the machine with IP 192.168.0.1, shared Folder c, directory MailRoot.

If you need a username/password for the remote machine, make sure that you have this shared location once in your network neighbourhood. Maybe that's the prob why XQM is blocked on this resource.

You have to add this resource to the network neighbourhood of windows, then XQM can access it.
Click Desktop/Network_Neighbourhood/Add_Resource

If the IP of your remote machine is e.g. 192.168.0.10, then click ADD and enter \\192.168.0.10 ...
The following dialog asks you for username, password and which share to connect. Just follow the dialog and you are in.
Then enter the complete path to MailRoot in XQM. E.g. \\192.168.0.10\c\MailRoot

I'll make this more comfortable in one of the next releases ....
