smtprelay:
Defiines IP address ranges which are allowed to use your server for sending their mails.

smtpfwd:
Defines those servers to which you delegate a sending task. That means you tell that server(s) to send this mail for you. If you provide a list of servers, XMail picks out the first available for forwarding.

smtpgw:
Same functionality as smtpfwd, but the forwarded mail is routed though the complete list. That means one server hands it to the next one and the last one in this chain sends it to the recipient. This allows complex routing.

Take care:
Because smtpgw.tab uses explicit SMTP routing it might not be supported by all servers. So if you can solve your problem with smtpfwd, you should avoid smtpgw.
