There's a bug in 1.14 that gets triggered under certain conditions. This
is an early 1.15 with the fix :

Malformed sender and subject filelds with path-like statements (e.g. c:\program@somedomain.com) were able to crash Xmail Server on Linux an NT platform. This bug is fixed in 1.15-pre01.

I had the exact same spam email this morning. I thinksomeone has
harvested email addresses from this group as I don't use my real email
adress for anywhere else.

Subject: [xmail] xmail 1.14 crashes on spam

Hello Davide,

the following peace of s... (note the sender ans msgid syntax) I makes
xmail 1.14 (NT4 SP6a) crash, reverting to 1.11 (the previous version
used here) seems to salvage the situation. I'm
not yet sure whether the crash is caused by xmail itself or
inherited by an error in the custom processing stage, but XMAIL
shouldn't crash either way.

From the changelog:

April 2, 2003 v 1.15
Fixed a bug ( Windows OS bug ) that made XMail unable to create domains starting with reserved device names ( COM#, LPT, PRN, CON, ... ). So, for example, a domain named ``com4.domain.org'' couldn't be created because of this naming conflict.

Fixed a bug that made XMail to not apply filters for local mailing list.

Fixed a bug that made XMail to crash under certain conditions.
