XMail Forum > XMail Server > Retrieved E-mails Not Deleted

I am using XMail and Dovecot on a QNAP TS-509. Everything is working except that when Dovecot retrieves the mail from XMail it is not deleting the message from XMail. Is there a setting in XMail that I can use to force it to delete a message when it is retrieved?

Thanks
Don

Edit: It's not Dovecot retrieving the mail. Not sure what is at this point but still would like to know if there is a setting that will delete mail when it is retreived even if the client doesn't specifically ask for it.

It is on client to tell the server what to do with message after being retreived. So if you use Dovecot check its configuration.

Thanks. I think I figured it out. I didn't fully understand how Dovecot, XMail, and IMAP worked. I have a better understanding now. XMail is my mail server and I use Outlook for reading/sending my mail. Dovecot uses XMail to store the mail. As stated on the Dovecot web site - "Dovecot is not involved with reception, delivery, and storage of mail".
