XMail Forum > XMail Queue Manager > XMail Server Service not found

Posted by: loomax Sep 1 2003, 03:01 PM
I installed XMail Queue Manager under Windows NT and get following error message:

"XMail Server Service Not Found. Make sure that xmail is correctly installed as a system service."

I changed the name in th field "forve service name" -- without success
I changed the service name by editing the registry from "XMail Service" to "XMail Server" without any success

I'd be very happy if anybody could help me

By the way -- on a Windows 2000 system I was able to install xmail-Server and the Que-Manager so that it works -- It seems to be a NT specific Problem.

In an older posting I already read something that the xmail service is named different in NT and Windows 2000:

NT: XMail Service
2000: XMail Server

I'll check this on a NT box -- please hang on ...

The NT4 part of service handler seems to be broken in Python 2.2 (XQM <1.37 was compiled with Python 2.1). I replaced this part completely. Thanks for that very important hint ...

Please test:

.. and let me know the result.

This problem also affects XQM Agent on NT4. Will be available soon.
