Hi, I need a tool to synchronize mails between primary and secondary MX servers. XMail-SYNC could be such a tool I'm looking for. Unfortunately it is designed for Wins. My servers run on FreeBSD. I can develop codes for this OS but I need the idea (the principle of XMail-SYNC). I visited this site http://software.altaircom.net/software/xmail-sync.aspx but couldn't find out contact details. If you know please post how to contact Michal Altair Valasek. Thank you, |

Maybe the command rsync can help? (I assume it works in FreeBSD) |

I use rysnc to mirror my servers for backup purposes, including XMail. I run it as a cron job, which for mail purposes has the disadvantage of syncing on a timed basis rather than immeadiately, but there are probably other ways to use it. on FreeBSD: /usr/local/bin/rsync -aH --delete /path/to/primary/MailDir/ /path/to/backup/MailDir/ This works if you have the primary server drive mounted on the seconday (NFS, SAMBA, etc.) - this is the way I do it, but this is not strictly required with rsync which has a server/client setup as well.
