XMail Forum > XMail Queue Manager > [solved] Socket.gaierror -2

Posted by: pgs Jan 25 2005, 09:13 PM
Hi,

i use XQM on my Debian server started via the Shellscript in init.d.
It always went excellent, but since the last start XQm is not runing, it terminates with the message

socket.gaierror (-2; 'Name or service not known')

Directly started, and/or in debug mode: same message.

Any idea, anyone? Ah, I forgot: I recently installed a dns forwarder (dnsmasq).

TIA + MFG, pgs

This error is indeed related to DNS resolution. It comes directly from Python's socket support and is caused by a failed resolution on OS level. Try to use fixed IP addresses in XQM's (or the Agent's) config.

Thx,

using IP instead hostname in /etc/xqmagent.conf solved the problem.
