XMail Forum > Webmail Add-ons > Xmail Wai From Altair

Hi again all

It has finally come to this....
I need others to admin their OWN mail domain's.... And i am having troubles....AGAIN!

I downloaded XMail WAI from Altair and installed it.....
But i can not get it to work.... Been bussy for 3 hours now... Some stuff work and others don't
I get this error now:

CtrlClnt error '80040001'

Command: userlist Args: Domain Name;postmaster ErrCode = -148 ErrString = Controller response error ErrInfo = Resource lock entry not found

/xmadmin/include/top.inc, line 91

I ONLY want to use this for the Domain admin so that an "Administrator" from his own domain can load and or delete or manage their OWN Users. Currently i am doing it but the job is getting a bit much now.

If there is ANY other "Interface" i can use that will do just that... I am OPEN to suggestions!

Hi,

This seems to be an error you get from the commandline tool ctrlclnt.exe. This is used by WAI to communicate with XMail Server. I looked up the errorcode in the manual:

QUOTE

ERR_DNS_CACHE_FILE_EXPIRED (-178)

Excatly when are you getting this error message?

Maybe our XMail Wizard Harald has an answer ready when he's around again.

Strange ... maybe a corrupted DNS cache:

At first try chmod 755 MailRoo\dnscache, if you are on Linux.

If this doesn't help:

- stop xmail service
- cd \MailRoot\dnscache
- delete all, including all sub folders
- mkdir ns and mkdir mx
- start xmail service

Xmail then rebuilds its cache automatically.

Ag no....
I dunno what is up with this thing!

I logged in as administrator and tried to add a new domain. I got this error now:
This was after i deleted the dnscache folders and recreated them

CtrlClnt error '80040001'

Command: domainlist Args: ErrCode = -148 ErrString = Controller response error ErrInfo = Resource lock entry not found

/xmadmin/include/top.inc, line 91

I am running Win2000 Server and Xmail 1.12

I gave CtrlClnt.exe full rights in NTFS for IUSR_Computername account
I get error's when i try to look up domain's,add users, search users or admin a specific domain.

All error related to CtrlClnt

Is there not any other tool out there i can use that will work?

Are you sure, that you have a ns and mx folder in your dnscache directory ?

Posted by: BooT Apr 1 2003, 07:40 AM
Yes...I deleted all that was in that folder. Then created NS and MX again And started Xmail server again...Went to WAI interface and logged in and tried to add a new domain and got that error

If you use the same CTRL functions with telnet, do they work?
If so, we can exclude config or access errors.
In that case you should contact WAI's author at http://www.altair2000.net/en/software/software.asp?codename=xmail-wai
It's important for him to know any bug ...

What are those functions and how do i test them on Telnet?

I contacted the Auther previosly and got no response from him. That was with xmail 1.09 i think. I had similar problems but since 1.12 came out i could "go further" since i last tried.

Is there no Other app i could use for this?

telnet localhost 6017

Enter ctrlaccount_username TAB password

Then follow the instructions in the manual .. see chapter XMAIL ADMIN PROTOCOL.

There are many tools (see list at xmailserver.org), but they all rely on the admin protocol. So if the problem lies there, you won't solve it by changing the tool.

I can telnet into my xmail server and log in...no problem.

For myself to manage all my domain's i use Xmail Administrator 0.21

With that i manage my server 100 %

But i can not give someone else access to it.Then they can see all the other domain's i am hosting.I do not want that. I want something that can ONLY admin a certain domain.

Delegated administration is an interesting idea. IMHO there is no such tool at the moment.

Maybe the next version of WAI will pick it up. Please mail this to the author. He made a survey some time ago about which new features should go to the next version.

Maybe someone else could mail him 2? and just post a link to this thread?

Thanx again for all the help
