I've tried browsing the documentation as well as this forum, but I can't seem to find an answer.

What is the easiest way to move my Xmail configuration from one machine to the next. Can I tar and move the /var/MailRoot directory? Will that copy my settings as well? Is there a script that exists to accomplish this? Any caveats I need to know about?

Thanks again. Forum is helpful as always.

Update:

I would delete this post if I could. Anyway, found an old posting on this topic.

If you have built the XMail server from source you can create a backup of all mails and settings using the following commands:

cd /var
/etc/init.d/xmail stop
tar -czvf /root/MailServerBackup.tar.gz MailRoot
/etc/init.d/xmail start
