Okay, here's what I want to do -- its simple, but I can't make it work.
I just want to be able to receive email. I have a domain dynamically pointed to my ever changing ip address (cable modem home user), so anything@foo.com goes to my machine. Xmailserver is receiving mail perfectly, and I can check it via Outlook, Netscape, etc, doesn't matter its all good. However, I know that I am also open to sending email from anyone on the net. I can't close this off. In smtp.ipmap.tab I changed this: "0.0.0.0" "0.0.0.0" "ALLOW" 1 to "0.0.0.0" "0.0.0.0" "DENY" 1 Now I couldn't send out email via xmailserver (good), but also I couldn't receive any, either. All mail gets returned (forgot exact error message, but I'm pretty sure you people will know what it is.) So, all I want is to close off smtp (i can use my ISPs smtp gateway, and therefore don't need xmailserver to act as one) and still allow xmailserver to receive email. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is smtp.ipmap.tab the place to do it? What's going on?!?!?! Thanks in advance. No, really, thanks! |

remove "0.0.0.0" "0.0.0.0" from the smtprelay.tab file to end open relaying.

Thanks for the tip -- I'll do that when I get home tonight. I can't remember if I tried that or now, so I bet I didn't!
