Folks, no one is visiting this forum for the purpose of providing support.
xmail server as a product is apparently end of life and waste of time. If you are still running it you should migrate to the products which are being actively developed and supported by a larger community. It would only be ethical on the part of developer - Davide Libenzi - and this forum admins to prominently acknowledge that in the stickies or on the home page. The potential users may be easily deceived by the looks of xmailserver.org and this forum that there is still activity. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings, but admitting reality is still a better option than wasting people's time. |

You`re right. But, what`s the alternative? Xmail is very easy to configure.
Can you give a real alternative? |

Zenith22, this is a user based forum, which means that one user helps another without the developers presence. The admins are user's too, not involved in the development process. Davide himself communicates via the XMail Newsgroup, only.
So as you see, XMail is a one-man show of a single developer with a family and a real-world job to earn money. So you cannot expect professional 24/7 support. Therefore it's free. It will only die if bugs and security holes won't be fixed anymore. It is still lean, mean and stable as a rock. I am sure that most problems can be solved by the forum's search function and googeling other sources of information. And if that does not work out, you can still subscribe to the XMail newsgroup and ask Davide personally. -------------------- Bye,

I've had to desert to dovecot+postfix. Promises of IMAP and what have you for years and then .. nothing
Almost 2 years now and not a single sign of any active development |

There is still activity on the XMail mailing list:
news://news.saltstorm.net/saltstorm.xmail Here you can contact the developer directly. I am sure that any bug discovered will be fixed instantly. But I am also pretty sure, that a built-in IMAP solution won't be available in near future. There are not the slightest hints from Davide that this is under active development. -------------------- Bye,

I agree with hschneider and Saint2000 this is still a great and solid running mailserver.
