Hi,

i'd like to have "one way addresses" in xmail which works the following way:
- a namespace is defined (e.g. *ow@mydomain)
- an address is created externally (e.g. via web frontend; in the form [random]+namespace) and stored (together with context information e.g. the name of the company for which the address is created)
- when a mail is sent to an address in the namespace:
* it's checked against the databases
* when it's not there (or disabled), the mail is rejected
* when it's a valid address, the mail should be rewritten so that i can see what the target address was (this can be done by rewriting the "to" or adding an extra header)
* the mail is forwarded to a real account

What would be the best way to implement this in xmail? I think this can be done with a combination of filters/forwarding rules or something similar.

The other part (implementing a database driven script and a web frontend) is no problem for me.

Michael.

When you create the address, create an XMail account in parallel with the ctrl protocol. Then a filter veryfies the incoming mail against the local filesystem (MailRoot/domains/domainname/username) or a database backend.

Harald, isn't a simple alias enough for his needs?

An alias requires an existing account. I think what he needs are instant accounts, created on demand.
