Running pclinuxos (2.6.12 kernel)
xspamd installed and running
compiled and installed xspamcpd accodring to its instructions - it does not seem to work. going through the docs there seem to be inconsistencies.

In Xmail:

1. noticed xmail readme discusses MAIL_ROOT environment var but /etc/init.d/xmail uses XMAIL_ROOT. Which one is correct? added MAIL_ROOT to the script with same value as XMAIL_ROOT.

2. according to xmail documentation filters scripts and programs should be place in $MAIL_ROOT/filters. It's not clear whether the command name in filters.post-data.tab need to have the complete path. I tested with a simple shell script and it seems you must specify the complete path. Other than that it seems to work (i.e. when the script returns 3 the message is rejected)

xspamcpd:

3. The readme for aspamcpd says the executable name should be xspamcpd, but the executable create by running make is xspamc.

4. The sample ini file is named xspamcpd.ini and the documentation refers to it by this name, but inside the sample it is refered to as XSpamc.ini. Which one is it?

Any ideas on how to make it work on linux, get diagnostics information from it as it runs, would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

After failing to get this to work I decided to review the source code.
I have found enough bugs in the first 40 lines of code to decide to try using something else.

I am now using spamc with the anti-spam.sh script (available somewhere on xmailserver.org)

You may want to try to avoid using spamassassin' stock tools, you'll find that you can scan about 5 emails with SA & telnet ( or like php & sockets) then spamc can scan 1 email.
